Kermanshah is a city in the west of Iran which has a long history. Due to its strategic location, this city was attacked and destroyed many times, but due to the very favorable land and its location on the Silk Road, it was rebuilt in other places. Finally, with the beginning of the era of modernity, the relative security of Iranian cities increases and Kermanshah also flourishes in this period. But the modernization and street construction of Iranian cities in order to make them car-oriented also destroys the past identity of Iranian cities, and elements such as the square, which were the center of the city in the past, over time gave way to elements such as garages, car-oriented square, and wide streets. In the age of these changes, Kermanshah loses its original identity and is still moving towards this identitylessness. Because the forgotten identity of the city has not yet been properly clarified, the development and regeneration programs continue to push the city of Kermanshah towards its identitylessness. In this research, the qualitative apparent inductive content analysis method has been used. First, with purposive sampling method, all the sources that had references to the identity and past structure of the city were selected. In the next step, all sources were coded using MAXQDA2020 software. Accumulation method was also used for the categorization content. After clarifying the elements and past structure of Kermanshah city, with the help of deep analysis and using Space Sytax software, the patterns of Kermanshah city during the Qajar period were obtained. It should be noted that the lack of access to all sources and the reduction of accuracy of the field visit due to the complete destruction of the past structure were among the limitations of this research. The results of this research showed that in the past, the elements of Kermanshah city have always received many influences from the three principles of history, communication position and geographical position in their placement pattern in the city. These three principles have created the needs and norms that the elements of the city have formed with their own pattern in order to respond to it. Another important point is the connection of elements with each other. For example, due to the location of Kermanshah on the main route of pilgrims, many caravanserais are located along the market and the main route of the city. Therefore, the connection of the elements with each other has also caused the creation of special patterns in the elements of Kermanshah. As a result, in this research, first by analyzing the content of texts and photos, the state of elements and the past structure of Kermanshah was obtained. Then, by examining the history, communication and geographical position of each element and how the elements interact and communicate with each other, patterns of the historical texture of Kermanshah were obtained. The results of this research can also be used for identification and future regeneration and development plans of the city.
